Thank you for your interest in the VMware vSAN Private Beta Program. vSAN is a critical component of the VMware Digital Foundation, a ubiquitous control plane from edge to core to cloud, and the likely next step in your digital transformation. vSAN’s focus on innovation continues to increase agility and availability while lowering costs, empowering you to accelerate your business. We are excited to share a preview of some of these benefits via the vSAN Private Beta.

This Private Beta of vSAN's next major release will be divided into two distinct phases, and will be conducted over the next several weeks. Due to legal reasons, we cannot publish dates here but we will share them with you along with more information after you sign an NDA.

  1. Phase 1:  In first phase, we will focus on vSAN native Data Protection. Users will be able to setup policy-based data protection based on next-gen, native vSAN snapshots. This capability will help protect against VM data corruption and data loss scenarios. vSAN Snapshot based data protection enables quick VM backups and near instant VM restores. This capability is built-into vSAN and vSphere, which simplifies data protection management because there is no additional data protection software to maintain and configure. This phase of beta is expected to be a Hosted Beta, where VMware will provide hosted infrastructure in VMware private clouds. Users will login to a private beta portal where a custom vSAN Cluster will be pre-created on VMware cloud infrastructure. Users can begin previewing the feature and running the suggested tests provided by VMware. In addition, the private beta portal will have message boards to allow customers to engage other beta customers and VMware to share information and feedback. VMware may schedule phone meetings to discuss customer feedback individually with beta customers.
  2. Phase 2: In addition to vSAN Data Protection, this Beta Phase will also allow customers to beta test vSAN File Services and vSAN Cloud Native Storage. This vSAN Beta Phase 2 will be a download beta. Customers will be provided a download package and users will be able to test on their own test labs to see how these features work. As in vSAN Beta Phase 1, customers will be provided access to a private beta community portal to download the Beta Phase 2 install package and engage in discussions with VMware or provide feedback.
If you are interested in beta-testing the above features, and want to influence the direction of an industry-leading solution with your valuable feedback, please complete the questionnaire below and VMware will be in touch soon on next steps.

Thank You!
